Neighborhood Spotlight: Southside Fort Worth

As a REALTOR® I’m often asked, “What are the best neighborhoods in Fort Worth?” The answer to that question varies depending on what you are looking for.

The Neighborhood Spotlight series highlights many different Fort Worth neighborhoods through the lens of people who live there, and sometimes, people who are selling homes there. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about any of the neighborhoods in this series, and let me know if you’d like to see your own Fort Worth neighborhood or real estate listing featured on the blog.

Floor-to-ceiling windows surrounded by trees

1140 S Adams is one of the more unique properties I’ve seen in Fort Worth: a three-story, brownstone-style townhouse overlooking the urban walking path known as Oleander Walk. When you’re inside, it almost feels like you’re nestled between Midtown Manhattan and Central Park — with the urban Fort Worth Medical District to the north, and the trees lining Oleander Walk to the south giving it a treehouse feel enhanced by floor to ceiling windows.

Did I mention it’s a single block from my favorite street in the whole city? Magnolia Avenue is home to some of Fort Worth’s most diverse restaurants — from vegan to homestyle Italian, tacos to Thai street foodpizza, bbq, baked goods…the list goes on and on. Not to mention a plethora of coffee shops, bars, and art studios & galleries. The dreamiest little pocket of Fort Worth is a literal stone’s throw away. My business partner and I spoke to our seller about his experience living in this spectacular home and neighborhood:

What do you enjoy about living in Near Southside Fort Worth?

The energy! After so many years in Manhattan, I needed somewhere that felt a little big city. Truth is, this place reminds me a lot of my Westside NYC brownstone.

What is your favorite spot in the house? Why?

The roof deck. No question. The views are spectacular—especially the sunsets—and it truly feels like you’re away from it all when you’re up there.

Describe what a typical weekend might look like for someone living in this home / neighborhood.

Guests over for drinks on the roof deck. Then a stroll to Teddy Wong’s for dinner. Sundays always beg for a nice walk up and down the pedestrian street, Oleander Walk, and breakfast at Paris Coffee Shop.

How would you describe the community?

Part Big City, Part Cowtown Fort Worth. It’s a beautifully mixed feeling — a little of everything, the way I think it should be.

What are your favorite local restaurants?

I’ll tell you my favorite “circuit” instead: drinks at The Usual, then dinner at Ellerbe, then a jaunt through Melt for a sweet dessert :)

1140 S Adams is listed by Clay Brants & Caroline Parrish with The Brants Group — Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.
